Ten sentenced of online harassment directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of circulating fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.
The court issued suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has yet to be released.
A circulating unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the first lady's gender.
Their legal filing contends that Owens ignored any factual proof that refuted her assertions in favour of platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her now-husband when she taught at his high school.
The two entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
